Preparing Your Child for a New Baby
A new baby is so exciting for the entire household, and for older siblings, the anticipation can also bring big questions. What will the baby be like? Will they cry a lot? Can I hold them? Will my parents still have time for me?
Our Sibling Prep Class helps children feel ready for this big transition!
This class is included in our Education Passport!

About the Class
In this 45 minute hands-on class, children learn what babies are really like and what they can expect when the new baby comes home. We talk about why babies cry, what babies can (and can’t) do, and all the ways big siblings can help.
Kids will get to practice with baby dolls, explore real baby items, and ask all their questions about the new baby!
During class, big bros and sisters will:
• Learn what newborn babies can and can’t do
• Practice gentle touches and holding a baby (with a doll)
• See how babies are diapered, swaddled, and soothed
• Talk about ways big siblings can help
• Ask questions about the new baby
Activities are adjusted based on the ages of the children attending, but the class is typically best for kids ages 2–10.
Parents stay during the class and are welcome to participate and support their child throughout the activities.
Classes are led by doulas (who are also moms!).
